Week 1: Our goal is to create a better, greener school. Our environment is getting worse and worse, and we believe that we can change that. But we can't do that alone. I was you to take the challenge and make the world a greener place! Our new goal for week two is to move our plants to better areas, and into the school backyard.
Week 2: Our goal was to move all our plants into larger areas. Once we moved them to the back of the school, we watered the plants to make sure the soil was nice and moist. Afterwards, our goal was to find a nice area for our plants to catch sunlight, which wasn't very hard to find. Our new goal for day three, is that we need to find some worms to make the soil healthier for the plants.
Week 3: Our goal is to talk to Mr. Kelly about teacher involvement in the Garden especially after full approval from Mrs. Ashshaheed (achieved). We also want to build a garden plot in the area specified (playground area). We also want to find potential sponsors for soil. Our goals for next week are to purchase the materials necessary to build the garden plot and start planting!
Week 4-5: Our goal is to talk to our principal, Ms. Ashaheed, and see if we can have a bake sale at school to raise money for more materials. Also, we finished our garden beds and have transplanted. All we have left to do is to water the plants and take good care of them.
Week 6: (First Week of School) We have accomplished our other goals. We have harvested a huge zuchini, tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, and beans. We plan to plant the garden with a cover crop, and add additional beds and plants within the next year (spring). We hope to use one of the beds as a butterfly/bee garden.
