Oceanic Pollution by Audy Lebovitz
At one point in your life, you may recall the liquid feel, the salty smell of ocean water. It curdles your body, lifting the pressure sand would impose. It also clashes against your body, smashing a wave of energy among your skin. But, shall it hurt, shall it curdle, water is merely the essential of life, a mass of nature. Water allows for the life of humans and animals alike, but its work is starting to become more of an effort. But how so does this large ecosystem start to decay? Journey into the world you’ve already been, but look at it in ways you’ve never seen it before.
As people continue to pollute the world with industry, the skies are also becoming sober, and gray. Industry has released many gasses into the air that damage the skies, and soak them with what we may recognize as acids. Just as water becomes a constituent of clouds, these chemicals also become constituents of clouds. In precipitation, the acid comes down to Earth as acid rain. Acid rain can be deadly to the animals and humans in the environment, and can damage ecosystems. But, this acid rain also can affect different kinds of animals different kinds of ways, indirectly perhaps we can settle upon.
Acid rain has potential to rain into the ocean, and affect the ecosystems already exist in the ocean. Coral reefs can be damaged, and potentially kill many oceanic animals. Fish will die, destroying the fishing industry as we know it. Even larger, there will be a large hole in the ecosystem, and humans will soon die because of how all the animals are connected. But, at foremost, our ocean will be contaminated by acid rain, that same acid that we excreted from our industry. We will have contaminated drinking water. And the cycle will never end unless we stop these excretions from our industry. Evaporation will cause the acid water to rise into the sky, and acid rain will befall us humans again.
Possible solutions to this acid rain could be applying laws against all the chemicals we excrete and those in the sky, preventing further ecological damage. But, alas, a small mind cannot come up with all the solutions, as the world is a dynamic place. Many new solutions will arise as the world changes, and as new people emerge. Any suggestions to change this world is open, to save humanity from the ship that is coming dauntingly close.
