Global Warming & Ways to Slow it Down
By: N. S.
Have you ever wondered why temperatures are getting so high year by year? Have you ever wondered why Antarctica is slowly melting day by day? So, why are all these events occurring? The answer to this question is Global Warming. Global Warming is the gradual increase of the earth's atmosphere caused by increased levels of pollutants. A major part of global warming is the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is the trapping of the sun's warmth in the earth's lower atmosphere. Many scientists believe that global warming had started years back, but it is showing its effect clearly in the present. Global Warming has increased to an extent where it cannot be stopped, but it can be slowed down. So, what are some ways to do that?
You may not be realizing it, but everyday, over a million cars roam the streets and highways. Everyday, thousands of factories produce different products, causing smoke released in the air. Everyday, millions of gallons of water are used. All of these factors cause climate change, or in other words, global warming. Now, all that is needed is to find some ways that reduce the amount of pollution caused by those factors. There are hundreds of ways, but here are some ways you can use in your daily life;
1. Walk or Bike instead of Drive - The exhaust coming from cars causes A LOT of pollution
2. Don't shower for too long! Limit your shower to 5-7 minutes at a time!
3. Plant Plants! Even planting a simple vegetable can be very helpful to the environment!
4. Reuse, Reduce, & Recycle! By putting even one small piece of trash into a recycling bin, you are forcing workers to have to throw all the recycling materials away.
5. Save electricity - Don't walk out of a room without turning off the lights!
6. Spread The Word! - Tell everyone you know about ways to save the planet, and encourage them to tell other people too!
