Air pollution by Carolyn Baek
Many don’t care that air pollution is slowly killing our earth, inside and out. Air pollution occurs when terrible gases, dust, smoke, or odor are introduced into the atmosphere, causing the air to become dirty, contaminated, and unclean, in a way that makes it harmful to humans, animals, and plants. It was estimated, by the WHO, that about 7 million people died because of air pollution in 2012. Factories, cars, and many more gas contained machines have a severe effect on the clean, fresh air. Fortunately there are many organizations, like Environmental Protection Agencies (EPA) and National Association of Clean Air Agencies, trying to minimize, but hopefully end, air pollution.
An air pollutant is a man-made or natural origin substance in the air that can have adverse effects on humans and the ecosystem. The substance can be solid particles, liquid droplets, or gases. Pollutants are either primary or secondary. Primary pollutants are usually produced from a process, such as ash from a volcano. Secondary pollutants are not emitted directly, but they form in the air when primary pollutants react or interact. All in all, pollutants effect the world in every way but good.
